Bats tend to inhabit structures that have significant exposure to sunlight, are large, and within 1/2 mile of fresh water.

Bats in North America are insectivorous, feeding on a variety of flying insects.

Bat guano (droppings) may provide a growth medium for Histoplasmosis (a lung infection).

Bat droppings can produce unpleasant odors in attics and wall spaces. Smell can be described as pungent and musty.

Mating season for bats

Mating Season

Generally bats mate in fall and winter. Maternity season is May 1 through August 1. Bat control is permitted before and after maternity with the exception of bats living within a home.
