Squirrel Control

Habitat
Squirrels such as gray or flying vary in habitat. They can range from bottomland forest, mature woods and upland areas. Flying squirrels being more tree dwelling are restricted to larger mature hardwoods.

Food Source
Gray squirrels store and eat acorns, seeds, nuts, and wild tree fruits in fall and early winter. Red squirrels will store large amounts of food in one area (such as attics or gutters). Flying squirrels generally eat bird eggs, bearings, insects and other animal matter when available.

Disease
Ticks, mange, fleas and internal parasites.

Property Damage
Squirrels occasionally damage trees by chewing and stripping bark from branches and trunks. They can curtail production of nut orchards by eating nuts premature. They may damage lawns by burying or digging up nuts. They may also gnaw on exterior structures to create an entrance and gnaw on wires inside of buildings.

Mating Season
Gray and red squirrels breed mid December through early January having a their young 42-45 days after mating.

ADC Solutions
Solutions include trapping, one way doors, sealing all openings, as well as trimming of overhanging limbs and branches close to structures.
